We usually enjoy riding mountain bikes in the mountains, but you can also ride through the mountain, as we have found a passage through abandoned and mysterious mining tunnels. With a guide, helmet and flash light, you can safely cycle over five kilometres of a unique underground path from one valley to another and experience an unforgettable adventure. The path goes through safe tunnels and rises only 15 m, but the depressions and humps of the former railway sleepers do not allow easy cycling.

The cycling adventure begins at the Karavanke UNESCO Global Geopark information centre, where an experienced guide will welcome you and take you to the entrance to the mine in Črna na Koroškem. The underground cycle path ends above Mežica, and you will descend to the starting point on a paved road (approx. 1.5 km).

The temperature in the mine is 10 °C, it is completely dark and special equipment is required due to underground safety regulations. A helmet and headlamp are mandatory and included in the entrance fee. We recommend warm sports clothes and cycling gloves. The entire journey takes 2.5 hours. The age limit is 10 years or a valid cycling licence.

Visiting the mine is only possible with a mountain bike, which you can also rent from us. Advance booking is required. E-bikes are not allowed in the mine.
